Dear Internet, Don’t Come For Gabby Douglas and Here’s Why

Four years ago gymnastics phenom Gabby Douglas was making Olympic history as the first African American woman to become the individual all-around champion and the first American gymnast to win gold in both the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympics. That’s when the wave of hate commenced, critiquing everything from Gabby’s hair to body shape. And this year’s games in Rio has brought out the same trolls this time attacking her patriotism as well. Gabby immediately felt the heat from those with nothing better to do with their time than pick her life apart, and turned to Twitter to publicly apologize. Fortunately, numerous fans and celebrities have taken to social media in support of the talented 20-year-old and to remind everyone to not come for Gabby because she’s got the receipts.
