Jean-Michel Basquiat art is reborn as his estate teams up with DAEM to reimage luxury watches. Basquiat, a sensational artist best known for his crown motif, which celebrates black people as majestic royalty, tragically died at the young age of 27. His legacy lives on in museums, clothing and now watches.
The DAEM x Basquiat Collaboration was inspired by Basquiat’s ability to create luxury and authentic dialogue from experiences born in the world around him. DAEM co-founders, Milo Dee and Michael Lofaso, who share Brooklyn roots with Basquiat, hope to create beautiful watches that delve deeper into the inspiration behind the design and feel the remarkable narratives behind Jean-Michel Basquiat’s journey.
The collection consists of three watches titled Undiscovered Genius and Skull, Now’s The Time, and Warrior which all house images of Basquiat’s work. The pieces include quartz and automatic options and prices range from $425 – $1,250.
